The
interaction of museums with the concept of sustainability has developed from
its function, which in the past was limited to preserving the tangible cultural
heritage, but with the intervention of the economic sustainability aspect,
there has been an improvement in 17 goals, the Sustainable Development Goals
have helped flourish and build the communities around the Berlin Museum[197].
These goals have achieved a lot of financial subsidies in cultural identity
building for the Berlin Museum at the expense of the Egyptian objects stolen
from Egypt. The Sustainable Development Goal, in especially the goal (No. 8
economic growth), is one that entails the rest of the goals (poverty, hunger,
education, health, and other goals) through improving economic income, and Goal
No. 8 is the covering under which all ways to improve the performance of the
museum gather[198].
The Berlin Museum benefits from the Egyptian Nefertiti statue through
mini-sales of the Nefertiti statue sold by museum stores. Based on human
rights, it has an interdependent role that helped achieve the goals of
sustainable development in relation to the goal of economic growth for the
Berlin Museum[199].
Since there is a strong
relationship between the sustainable development goals, especially in Goal No.
8 and the list of international human rights instruments. So the list of
international human rights instruments for economic growth is as follows:-
The Berlin Museum benefits from the
Nefertiti head statue through replicas of the statue that are sold by the
museum's plaster moulding shops. The bust of Nefertiti is reproduced in many
forms, for example, there are replica Nefertiti statues colored and non-colored
statues on request. The most sought-after statue is the bust of Nefertiti[202].

The price
of tickets to visit the New Berlin Museum is 19,00 €, while the ticket price
for the New Berlin Museum is 14 euros.[204]. The
bust
of Nefertiti achieved a lot of publicity in order to attract many tourists to
visit the Berlin Museum, through an announcement by the Museum Research
Institute to make statistics on the number of visitors in Berlin and it turned
out that the number of visitors to the new Berlin Museum for the year 2018 to
2020 is shown in the table [205]:-
Statistics of Visit | Visit in 2018[206]
|
Visit in 2019 | Visit in 2020 |
Number of Visitors | 770.000 | 828.200 | 196.168 |
Moreover, not only did the shops in
the Berlin Museum sell memorial pieces for the statue but some of the various
pieces of the statue were reproduced, such as book covers and DVDs[207].
Sales and publicity of the Berlin Museum played an important role in increasing
economic income in order to prepare tourists to visit the museum. It is
controversial that it is assumed that the basic right to this profit belongs to
the original home of the statue in Egypt. If the bust of Nefertiti is now in
its main location in Egypt, it will make a lot of economic profit through its
marketing and sales, it will create tourism, then from the ethical side, Egypt
should have a material benefit in the material cultural heritage of the bust of
Nefertiti as the museum has benefited through sales.
